Fiona MaCLeod 33Y Single Malt

The Character of Islay Whisky Company's single malts have a retro feel and an intensely peaty, salty profile. Fiona MacLeod is a single malt made from a blend of carefully selected casks that are at least 33 years old. All the casks come from the same distillery which remains secret, at least until the tasting... The name "Fiona Macleod" pays tribute to the Scottish writer William Sharp who hid his identity under this pseudonym throughout his life.

This series highlights the delights that can be found in the Inner Hebrides, and this one is an excellent example. It was aged in a single bourbon cask for 15 years and bottled in very elegant bottles.

Wind & Wave Octomore 10 y 2007

A heavily peated single malt from the Bruichladdich Distillery, released under the Octomore name, bottled by The Character of Islay Whisky Company for The Stories of Wind & Wave series. The indie bottling range is all about showing off the brilliant whiskies from Islay, and this supremely smoky single malt is indeed fantastic. Interestingly, it was drawn from Chateau d'Yquem casks, introducing a touch of sweetness to the mix.
