The Matsui – Mizunara Cask, is a single malt distilled by the Kurayoshi distillery, located in Tottori Prefecture. This whisky is aged in Mizunara oak casks. Mizunara wood is renowned both for its rarity and the complexity it presents in crafting. This oak takes 200 to 300 years to reach maturity, imparting exceptional aromatic qualities. This variety of oak is found only in the forests of Hokkaido and in the Tohoku region, in northern Honshu. Mizunara provides a honeyed woodiness that envelops the whisky and brings an elegant length specific to this type of aging. This whisky is diluted with fresh water sourced from the snowmelt of Mount Daisen.
