The old rum El Dorado Diamond Port Mourant 2010 is an exceptional blend, aged for 9 years under the tropical climate of Guyana in barrels that previously contained bourbon. Distilled in 2010 and released as a limited edition, it has not been chill-filtered to preserve the full authenticity of its aromas. Born from the union of Diamond's Coffey Still column still and Port Mourant's double-column still, this rum embodies Guyanese artisanal expertise in all its splendor.
TASTING NOTES:
NOSE: Upon opening, deep roasted aromas emerge, evoking sweet coffee and burnt wood. Gradually, notes of roasted nuts appear, evolving into a fresher and more delicate woodiness. Aeration then reveals indulgent hints of caramelized nuts, typical of Demerara rums, wrapped in warm and spicy nuances.
PALATE: The attack is powerful, dominated by heavily toasted oak, which imparts a slightly mineral sensation reminiscent of charcoal. Gradually, this intensity gives way to notes of licorice, evoking a juicy and sweet stick. Caramelized nuts then take over, bringing richness and an enveloping texture.
FINISH: Long and persistent, it offers a subtle smoky and roasted touch, balanced by a pleasant roundness.
