Knappogue Castle 12Y

Knappogue [NA-POGUE] takes its name from the castle which inspired it – the castle on “The kissing hill”. Built in 1467, the stronghold had fallen into ruin by 1966 when Mark Edwin Andrews and his wife Lavonne (both architects) restored it and filled it with some of Ireland’s best casks of whiskey. Some of these became the oldest, rarest commercially available whiskeys, the others helped define Irish single malt whiskey itself. An exceptional Single Malt made exclusively from malted barley, triple distilled one batch at a time in traditional copper pot stills and aged exclusively in ex-Bourbon casks for 12 years. 43% / 86 proof.

Knappogue Castle 12Y Château Pichon Baron 46%

Master Distiller Billy Walker is renowned for his peerless wood management capabilities. For this rare edition in our Masters of Wood series, Billy has selected casks that matured fine Sherry within a traditional solera system for over 55 years before beginning a new chapter at The GlenAllachie. These venerable ex-solera casks impart layers of rich dried fruit and warm spice, creating a luxuriously complex single malt that celebrates the harmony of wood, time and craftsmanship. We proudly present this Masters of Wood bottling at 50% ABV, natural colour and non-chill filtered, allowing its exceptional character to reign supreme.

Knappogue Castle 12Y Marchesi Di Barolo 46%

Palo Cortado is the rarest style of Sherry that combines the dryness of Fino with the nutty and darker fruit characteristics of Oloroso. It develops when the ‘flor’ yeast layer naturally dies on a wine that was initially intended to become a Fino. Using puncheons and hogshead casks that previously held this exceptional Sherry, the spirit develops a beautifully layered character, with notes of ripe plums, dark mocha and warming cinnamon spice. We proudly present The Wood Collection at a high strength of 48% ABV, natural colour and non-chill filtered, allowing ethe unique character to shine through.
