Cognac & coffee liqueur calls on Merlet’s expertise as both distillers and liqueur-makers, and showcases two after-dinner classics. Merlet partnered with Merling, a local coffee roaster from La Rochelle to select the origin and variety of the coffee (Brazilian Arabica) but also to work directly with freshly roasted coffee.
TASTING NOTES:
COLOR: Intense and deep brown.
NOSE: The nose is powerful, starting with notes of hot coffee, roasted "toast" aromas, and vanilla. The cognac follows and delicately complements the aromatic palette.
PALATE: The palate is round and smooth with a very nice length. Flavors of coffee, spices, and vanilla are prominent, enhanced by a hint of cocoa. The combination of cognac and coffee liqueur reveals a perfect harmony.

The classic expression of an 18-year-old Armagnac in this multifaceted nose. The aging process brings spices and rancio (walnut, undergrowth, honey, toasted bread). The initial fruitiness has evolved into prunes and fig jam. All of this creates a complex nose that evolves with aeration.
The present tannins remain round and well-integrated. The palate is rich, even opulent. This provides a natural sweetness around fruity aromas of citrus, honey, and jams.
Beautiful length.
