Passiflora edulis, commonly known as passion fruit, is a species of flowering plant in the family Passifloraceae. Its origins can be traced back to South America, where it is native to regions spanning from southern Brazil through Paraguay and into northern Argentina. This tropical vine thrives in warm climates and is valued for its delicious fruit. The newest release from Glendalough Distillery, our Single Grain Double Barrel Cask Strength Irish Whiskey. This liquid begins its maturation process in flame charred ex Bourbon American oak casks. It is finished in premium first fill Oloroso casks from Montilla, a small town found in the rolling hills of the Spanish countryside. We choose the bodega, the liquid, the casks and the cooper in this region of Spain to deliver a terroir driven sense of this land. It is encapsulated in the liquid when we put our Irish whiskey in these slow toasted Spanish casks for aging.
Aged in 1st-fill ex-bourbon casks, then for a time in 500-litre Spanish Sherry casks, which give it its hazelnut-brown color.
Etsu Yuzu Gin has been macerated for seven days using traditional botanicals such as Japanese Yuzu, juniper berries, liquorice root, angelica, coriander and matcha. After maceration, only the gin is distilled without the botanicals, which allows the oils to infuse.
If it is close to its Scottish cousins in many respects, this version also knows how to stand back in order to better assert its origins. Its particularly original and even surprising aromatic palette is already a pretext for discovery.
In order to create this attractive presentation, the carafe is suspended in the spring from the branches of the apple tree as soon as the first little apples appear. The apple then grows inside the carafe. When the fruit becomes ripe, the carafe is removed from the tree with its apple held captive inside it.
