This 9-year-old rum is a true homage to Jamaican expertise and the unique craftsmanship of the French brand Compagnie des Indes. From a secret distillery, it was carefully selected by Florent Beuchet, the brand’s founder. Distilled in a pot still in July 2013 from molasses, this rum first aged 20% of its time under the tropical climate of Jamaica before being transferred to Europe to continue its maturation in ex-bourbon casks. Its meticulous aging process resulted in a rum rich in esters, well-balanced, and bursting with character. Produced in a limited edition, only a single cask was bottled, yielding 379 numbered bottles. Bottled without chill filtration in March 2023.
TASTING NOTES :
NOSE: From the opening, an explosive and expressive bouquet stands out. The aromatic power is conveyed by notes of ripe banana, lychee, and passion fruit, typical of Jamaican rums rich in esters. A delightful fruity complexity that immediately captures attention.
PALATE: On the palate, the attack is smooth and balanced. Candied fruits dominate, with hints of yellow peach and mirabelle plum clafoutis. Gradually, indulgent notes of toasted bread and French toast emerge, offering a warm and enveloping texture.
FINISH: The finish is long and indulgent, while bringing a subtle vegetal touch that balances the whole. A persistence that invites you to dive back into this rum that is both complex and harmonious.
