With the country’s highest wine classification as a Denominação de Origem Controlada (DOC), this historic region is a significant producer of robust, characterful red wines.Factors such as the oak species, level of toasting, and coopering of the cask each leave a unique mark on the slumbering spirit.

This deliciously fruity whisky enjoyed initial maturation in premium American oak ex-Bourbon barrels for over 8 years. Adding further complexity, the spirit was then transferred into specially elected Moscatel casks for a finishing period of over 42 months. A particularly aromatic dessert wine produced in Portugal, these Moscatel barriques offer up floral aromas, coupled with a silky-smooth mouthfeel. Delivering distinctive notes of tart fruit and rich toffee, this bronzed malt is one to be savoured.

This collection explores the dynamic relationship between virgin oak casks and sherry casks, offering a fresh perspective on whisky maturation. Each edition of the Sinteis Series is based on a double maturation: an unusual virgin oak cask combined with a classic sherry cask. The result? To deliver our classically Sherried profile, Billy hand-selected Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks to be married with spirit maturing in red wine barriques and medium toast/medium char American virgin oak barrels.
